SCOTT STEVENS

Founder and Managing Partner

Scott Stevens is an accomplished investor with over twenty-five years of experience investing across asset classes—from venture to private equity to public markets—and at every level of the capital structure.

As Founder & Managing Partner of Grays Peak Capital, Scott brings a uniquely comprehensive perspective, having successfully executed investments across asset classes and market cycles. His expertise combines rigorous investment management, portfolio construction, and credit structuring with a deep data science background that informs underwriting, strategy, and risk management.

Prior to Grays Peak, Scott spent two decades as a Portfolio Manager at leading asset managers and hedge funds, beginning his career at Coatue Capital as one of the firm’s early investment professionals. He later held senior roles at SAC Capital and JAT Capital, where he managed multibillion-dollar portfolios in the technology, media, and telecom sectors.

Earlier in his career, Scott spent time at Merrill Lynch & Co., first in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group—where he executed more than $20 billion of transactions across aerospace & defense, media, healthcare, and energy—and later in the Global Communications Group, where he was focused on the Taurus Fund, a private equity vehicle focused on early- to mid-stage telecommunications investments.

In addition to his institutional investment career, Scott is an advisor and board member to multiple companies and invests personally through his family office.

Scott graduated from the University of Michigan (BA Economics).

CARRIE LEE

Partner

Carrie has invested in over $2 billion in energy, infrastructure, and transportation finance transactions in her career. She has practiced energy, project, asset, infrastructure finance law at White & Case LLP before founding Pine Street Alternative Asset Management, an award-winning hedge fund seeding platform lauded for its innovative approach to asset management and entrepreneurship. Pine Street launched alpha-driven funds through bold growth strategies and cutting-edge risk management tools. On the ground, Ms. Lee spearheaded humanitarian and economic development projects ranging from building schools to establishing a post-graduate fellowship that incubates social impact businesses in the Himalayas. As a White House Senior Executive Presidential Appointee, Ms. Lee crafted policy and designed programs to drive post-pandemic economic development and drive United States innovation and global competition. She also serves as a senior advisor to leading think tank The Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, developing non-partisan strategies to address national security challenges facing the United States.

STEPHEN JOHNSON

Partner / Chief Investment Officer

Steve Johnson is a Partner and member of the Investment Committee at Grays Peak Capital, bringing over twenty-five years of private and public market investing expertise across the full capital structure. He leads investment strategy across Grays Peak disciplines and is responsible for sourcing, executing, and managing corporate and government special situation investments. Steve has extensive experience in traditional credit, as well as distressed-for-control and turnaround private investments across a broad range of industries.

Prior to Grays Peak, Steve spent 17 years at Invesco, most recently as a founding partner of Invesco Credit Partners, a special situations fund focused on middle-market stressed and distressed debt and equity investments in North America and Europe. During his tenure at Invesco, he also worked closely with WL Ross & Co., where he served as co-head of the financial services practice, executing distressed and value-oriented private equity investments.

Earlier in his career, Steve held roles in private equity at Ewing Management Group, Wellspring Capital Management, and McCown DeLeeuw & Co. He began his career at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. as an analyst in the Global Industrials Group.

Steve earned a B.S. in Finance from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, with a minor in Economics.

Omear Khalid

Partner

Omear Khalid is an experienced investor-operator with nearly two decades across industrial manufacturing, maritime, aerospace & defense, technology, and healthcare.

As a Partner at Grays Peak Capital, he focuses on private equity and credit investments in industrial platforms—particularly maritime, aerospace & defense, and manufacturing—overseeing deal execution, strategy, and value creation.

He is also the Co-Founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Americraft Marine Group, an owner-operator of U.S. shipyards. In this capacity, he built and led a maritime platform, combining operational leadership with strategic M&A.

Earlier in his career, Omear was a Principal at a growth focused private equity fund, where he helped source and execute several investments. Prior to that, he held roles at Goldman Sachs and The Stephens Group, focusing on aerospace & defense and diversified industrials. He began his career covering technology and healthcare companies.

In addition to investing roles, Omear serves as an advisor to several companies. He earned a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

SAM COLLINS

Partner

Sam has over 30 years of experience in banking and broker-dealers. He currently serves as the Chairman of Creation Wealth Capital, which provides both private and corporate clients innovative alternative investment products alongside traditional investment services.

Previously, he was Executive Vice President at Echelon Wealth Partners, one of Canada’s preeminent independent investment dealers. At Echelon, he expanded assets under administration from $100 million to over $5 billion and facilitated four mergers and acquisitions in the Canadian wealth management space totaling over $15 billion in assets under administration.

He has also held senior management roles at Merrill Lynch and CIBC, and built two independent boutique investment dealers.

Josh Lewis

Partner

Josh has over 25 years of experience in finance, technology, and marketing.

He currently serves as the CIO at Aries Acquisition Corp, a disruptive technology SPAC (NASD:RAM), and CIO of Proton Holdings, a net-zero critical resources company with both the largest helium reserves and the largest carbon storage basin in North America.

Previously, he established and built a technology services and consulting startup into a global operation, led data engineering and analytics at Davidson Kempner Capital Management, and was a Director in the Leveraged Finance and Investment Banking group at CIBC World Markets.

Josh holds a B.A. in Psychology from UC San Diego and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He is also an Executive Mentor at both Columbia University’s Center for Technology Management and the Center for Technology Management and Digital Leadership at Northeastern University.

GURPREET OBEROI

Vice President

Gurpreet currently focuses on high growth businesses with a global vision as an investor and operator. He has worked on highly visible projects throughout Africa and the Middle East as an operator and financier focused on technology, energy and healthcare. He was part of a consortium which was short listed for $20bln of infrastructure assets in Nigeria and has worked with the Asset Management Company of Nigeria in privatizing non-performing loans. Gurpreet has raised both debt and equity for VC backed companies and has also done large blocks of private placements for unicorn technology companies. Gurpreet previously held advisory roles with Bank of Montreal, UBS, Macquarie, Credit Suisse and Citigroup on capital markets strategy and regulatory technology. He started his career at Rice Financial Products where he helped the firm win over $5bln of Senior Managed deals and oversaw the firms derivatives portfolio. He has received a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and has also attended the London School of Economics.
